At Birstwith Church of England Primary School , our Design and Technology curriculum is ambitious and carefully sequenced to develop pupils’ creativity, practical competence, and problem‑solving skills over time. We intend for pupils to acquire the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to design, make, and evaluate purposeful products that respond to real‑life needs. Through high‑quality, practical experiences, children develop technical knowledge of materials, structures, mechanisms, and systems, alongside an understanding of the social, environmental, and technological impact of design. By evaluating past and present designs, pupils become reflective, informed learners and responsible consumers, equipped with transferable skills and the confidence to apply their learning in an ever‑changing world.
