COVID-19 Support

At this challenging time, it is possible that you may need some advice to help you support your child in dealing with worries or experiences related to coronavirus. We have collected some online resources that you can access at home if you need support.

Children's Mental Health Week - February 2021

This year, we are marking Children's Mental Health Week  with a variety of different activities that everyone can access, whether they are learning at home or in a bubble at school. Here are some resources produced for the event that might be useful for you at home.

Introductory Assembly

URGENT HELP

Library Project

As part of the week we have also worked on a project with the North Yorkshire Library Service promoting reading as a strategy to support mental health.
The children had to choose their 'Top 3 books that make me smile' which were shared in a special assembly.  The library Service also supplied us with these resources to signpost books that support positive mental health. All of the titles can be borrowed from North Yorkshire Libraries free of charge and some titles are available as e-books and e-audiobooks from the digital library too. https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/libraries

Mindfulness

To help families create some time for peace, calm and self reflection, Mrs Graham has written some Mindfulness leaflets packed with ideas that can easily be done at home together.

This new website is dedicated to helping children and young people find mental health support in North Yorkshire. With lots of useful tips, information and signposting the site has specific ‘young person’ and ‘parent/carer’  tabs for easy navigation.

Compass Buzz
This is a project which strengthens the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people aged 5-18 across North Yorkshire. We have used their training and resources with great success in school. They have produced some excellent activities to stimulate discussion about coronavirus at home.

If you wish to discuss your child's mental wellbeing and need further support from the adults in school, then please feel free to leave a message with the school office and someone will get back to you.

ARCHIVED: Supporting the return to school in September 2020

Although some children have returned to school already, for many, the new autumn term will be their first time stepping into a classroom since lockdown began. Understandably, this may be a strange or worrying time for some children, parents and carers.

This collection of resources has been recommended to us from North Yorkshire to share with parents to help them prepare their children over the Summer for the return to school. We hope that you will find them useful.
